The Preposterous Posthumous Predicament of Paulie Peel

Preposterous Template

Book by Julie Tepperman
Lyrics & Music by Kevin Wong
Inspired by the painting “The Young Biologist” by Paul Peel (1892)

The Preposterous Posthumous Predicament of Paulie Peel began as a twenty minute musical commissioned and produced by Acting Up Stage Company as part of the 2016 REFRAMED initiative in partnership with the Art Gallery of Ontario. Kevin & Julie are currently planning to expand it into a 75 minute one-act book musical.

After the sudden death of his scientist father, ten year old Paulie Peel, and his mother Pauline, struggle to make sense of this tragedy. At the funeral, Paulie reveals a surprising scientific theory for dad’s untimely “death” – a conundrum that only he, as his father’s trusted apprentice, can solve.
